Walking Through Dark Valleys

Doubt, discouragement and disillusionment

I’m not in a darkness that paralyses me.
I keep moving. I keep doing what You have told me to do.
I’m walking through a valley where shadows torment, and the sound of Your voice is dimmed.

I’m distracted by the shadows. I’m confused about the next steps. I can’t hear Your words.
I stop trusting my body to tell me about hunger — about fullness, about satisfaction.
I give into mindless eating to medicate the boredom — to ease the anxiety or fill my empty heart;, easing the loneliness within.

Mindless eating numbs the confusion:

I step off the path. Voices from the shadows bring doubt, discouragement and disillusionment.

I hear you whisper about:

I will not give into fear:

This is just a valley.
I will keep walking — one step, one meal, one post at a time.

This is my valley today.
A valley filled with shadows where voices from the past scream words of failure and fraud.
