A twitter catfish and the perks of the LGBTQ

Mo Weekly #32

At the Cuble think tank earlier this week, the phrase ‘Catfish’ kept coming up a lot on the idea board as a team member named Joe finally met his long term online significant other. Unfortunately for Joe, the encounter wasn’t what he had bargained for.

Joe’s Catfish episode was particularly interesting because he is a homosexual male that got catfished by a bisexual female pretending to be a homosexual male. Joe’s episode, which is undoubtedly a victory for the LGBTQ, leaves a lot to be understood about the versatility of cat-fishing.

Against Joe’s wishes we had a sit down with Fishy:

Mo: how many online profiles are you actively running ?

Fishy: I am currently signed in to 5 different accounts on my phone, 3 on twitter, 2 on Instagram

Mo: why do you do it?

Fishy: it’s an art…

Mo: an art? (Interjecting)

Fishy: yeah..

Mo: wha

Fishy: don’t interrupt me again or you’ll be in love by the month’s end…it’s an art, just like art finds a way to touch people of different races and cultures, I try to touch people of different races and cultures

Mo: pun intended?

Fishy: Maybe…ask Joey

Joe: I hate you

Mo: how many people are you currently doing this to?

Fishy: 9 currently, would’ve been 10 but Joe got inquisitive

Mo: how do you handle their emotions?

Fishy: the trick is slow build up, leave a lot to be imagined but give enough to grab their attention …like a striptease in complete darkness

Mo: oh, I’m not sure how that will have anyone’s attention..

Fishy: well, if you’re being catfished in the first place, there’s gotta be something…. I mean … look at Joey..

Joe: I gave you 4 years of my life and everything ! !(in tears)

Fishy: see what I mean Mo?

Mo: Yeah, before he said that, i was going to say I’m not sure this is one of those situations where one can blame the victims” but I get it

Fishy: I feel like he’s made this shorter than it was going to be. Are we done here?

Mo: Yes we are, thank you for your time…..Joe, we need to have a talk about your future here

The point Fishy was trying to make is that only a peculiar type of person would get catfished, why? We’re not entirely sure because Joe got emotional.

Luckily for Joe, he won’t get fired because that’ll be against everything Ellen Degeneres stands for.
