From the Window

The sun had just set and cast a glow over the sea.

Hear the waves hitting the shore.

The calming deep was infinite, endless, forever.

Buildings were silhouettes stretching for the sky;

Reaching, reaching, reaching trying to touch it.

The sun’s shimmer cast a glaze like finish upon them;

And with each passing minute they grew darker,

Darker until they were simply black.

The gentle palms swayed at the wind’s command,

Bending until they could almost snap;

Hiding and covering the ground below,

Until it disappeared beneath the canopy.

As the sun cast its last light,

The night began to emerge and overtake in a blanket of darkness

Bright fluorescents overtook the night,

Creating bright patterns scattered in the ground below

We flew closer to them,

Closer, almost kissing the tops of the palms.

What once looked so small,

Was now much larger, changing perspectives,

As the plane soon disappeared beneath the palms.
