SEC Football Predictions

Football is so close I can almost taste it. We are weeks away from what I hope is another incredible football season. Last season was great for the ACC and Clemson. Not so much for Bama fans. After interacting with a few ACC fans on twitter, I can say with assurance that fans of ACC teams are truly the worst. Congratulations. I am calling this upcoming season redemption season for the SEC, and it better be. So here it is, my way t00 early, probably wrong predictions on how the SEC plays out.

The East
The east should be better than it was last year. Missouri, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia should all be better.
1. Georgia
2. Florida
3. South Carolina
4. Tennessee
5. Missouri
6. Kentucky
7. Vanderbilt
I believe Jacob Eason is the best QB in the SEC (sorry Jalen Hurts), and as a result, Georgia should win the conference. If the running backs can stay healthy and Jacob Eason plays up to potential, then Georgia will be hard to stop. Staying healthy will be key. Florida is a close second. I almost picked florida, but I’m just not sure they have a QB that can make the big plays. We will see. I think South Carolina suprises folks, and looks to be back on the right track. I also see Missouri improving from the disastrous season it had last year. I mean it can’t get much worse. Tennessee will fall a bit from last season. Not sure who is going to replace Dobbs at QB, and I still don’t buy Butch Jones being a great coach. To me, Tennessee underachieved last year, but at least they are Champions of Life.

The West
The West will still be the better division in the SEC, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I’m predicting though at least one coach in the west will be fired by the end of the season (cough Kevin Sumlin cough). Wouldn’t shock me if two coaches were gone. The problem with the SEC West is nearly every team is expected to win the conference every year. Here is how I think the West will look at the end of the season.
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Auburn
4. Arkansas
5. Texas A&M
6. Mississippi State
7. Ole Miss
I think it would be stupid to not predict Alabama to win the division. As long as Nick Saban is head coach one should pretty much pick them every year. Unfortunately. Saban is the Goat (pains me to say that). While I am picking Alabama, I don’t think they get through the regular season without a loss. I think LSU or Auburn trips Alabama up. LSU is a team that I am high on. Honestly, wouldn’t be suprised to see them in Atlanta, but as always the QB is keeping me from picking them to win the division. I think too many folks though are counting out LSU who has added an excellent coordinator in Matt Canada. If Danny Etling can manage the game and the o-line proves to be able provide pass protection, then look out. Auburn is being hyped up to be great. I’m just not sold on Jarrett Stidham. We have heard too often the story of the great QB Gus Malzahn has. Examples Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III. Can you imagine the pissed off Auburn fans if I’m right? It will be great, and the wheels will be officially off the Gus Bus. Speaking of hot seat, Kevin Sumlin. I think A&M is in for another mediocore season, and sadly, Kevin Sumlin is gone by the end of the year. The potential of adding Chip Kelly will be too much for teams to keep a mediocre coach.

So there you have it my way too early, probably wrong predictions.
