Feminism and Equality

(Before you furiously type hate in response to this, please read it through)

Feminism is misrepresented. I’m sorry to say this but it is my reasoned opinion that it is.

As you can see above feminism is a public movement that moves for the equality between men and women and not the movement that moves for the sole purpose of men-hating.

Nowadays, you see lots of women speaking out “for feminism” using hateful language, exaggerating the supposed rape culture, creating lies and blowing facts out of proportion. This doesn’t represent equality between genders. This doesn’t represent women’s right. This doesn’t represent feminism.

One thing that feminists should be bringing attention to is the truth about the wage gap. The reason the wage gap of 72 cents to a dollar or 60 cents to a dollar, or whatever they say it is, is because men and women are choosing different jobs to do, it’s because women tend to be less likely to work extra hours. And this could be due to how women have more pressure to have responsibilities at home or outside of work. This could be due to how women are encouraged and pressured to do different jobs to the jobs that men are pressured to do. This is the inequality that feminists should be bringing attention to.

Yes I added a subtitle just for this topic. Some misrepresenting people describe all men as promoting rape culture. Some describing all men as rapists. I’m not saying that all feminists believe this, I am saying that the ones who do grab the attention of the media and therefore misrepresent feminism. The fact that men and teenage boys believe that rape is wrong, stupid to do and horrible; the fact that “paedophile”, “nonce”, “rapist” are insults used on a daily purpose by men shows that men don’t promote rape. Men don’t believe rape is acceptable if its a man committing it. And it certainly proves that not all men are rapists.

The fact that prison INMATES, yes inmates, abuse a man in prison because he raped someone proves that even the worse of the worse believe that rape is wrong. There is a reason rape is illegal.

Yes there are male rapists winning trials. However, there are a bunch of men who are convicted of rape despite being completely innocent. There are a bunch of female rapists winning trials because the judge doesn’t believe they can do it. This is why rape culture and the lie: “all men are rapists” is a lie. This is one way some people, the people who the general public see the most, lie about “their” movement.

Feminism is shown in a bad light. It is like a destroyed city that hides the community and culture behind it. People are misrepresenting feminism and promoting hate and everything that isn’t equality and love. Yes, I know I am not a women so I might not understand it as well. But I believe, from what I’ve seen and experienced, that there is a gap between men and women, that we aren’t equal. This is why people who do represent what feminism actually means should speak out, louder than those who misrepresent, and change the negativity associated with feminism to something positive.

Feminism is the belief that men and women are equal. Not that women are better than men.
