A Remembrance of Southern Sunshine
I will always remember the southern sunshine as it shone down hard that day.
The air was cold and cut but the breeze still packed a bite.
The first green shoots of spring lay hidden, suffocating deep down under my feet, buried by a late winter deluge of snow.
High above the mountains cried, exasperatedly singing in the morning sunshine as ice-cream coned glaciers clung lovingly to their sides.
And the sky…
Honestly, the sky was never such a deep, deep blue again.
It was the kind of deep blue that just keeps going on forever, slowly forging out into the dawn of all creations until you can look no more for fear of crying, and the sun burns painfully into the back of your eyes.
That the day was beautiful there was no doubt about it. Not that day.
Not one single doubt.
That beauty is burned eternally into my mind.
